Dr. Stephanie Fotorny
Veterinarian, Owner of the Pet Doctor
Dr. Fotorny was born and raised in upstate New York. In 2003, she received a Bachelors of Science from Clemson University, in 2007, a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University, with finishing at the University of Georgia. She has extensive experience in both corporate and private practice, and shelter medicine. She has been practicing in the Myrtle Beach area since 2007. Dr. Fotorny currently has one English bulldog named Fletcher who is the CEO in training, and his side kick assistant Fredrick the French Bulldog.
Dr. Heather Caplan
Veterinarian, Owner of Grand Strand Equine
Heather Caplan was born in Miami Beach, Florida and lived in South Florida until she and her family moved to Toms River, New Jersey when she was a freshman in high school. While living in New Jersey Heather began working at Walnridge Farm, a standardbred breeding facility and veterinary hospital. She completed her undergraduate studies at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree in Biology she attended Drexel University in Philadelphia graduating with a Masters in Laboratory Animal Medicine. Heather was then accepted to veterinary school at the University of Florida. In her free time Heather enjoys running, biking, crossfit, watching college sports and reading. She has competed in several triathlons and completed two marathons. Dr. Heather is married to Daniel Brass and they recently had twins Jackson and Lillian. She also has a white dog named Velo that sometimes rides along.
Dr. Kevin Smith
Relief Veterinarian
Dr. Kevin Smith has been assisting The Pet Doctor team since 2013. He is originally from Gaffney, SC. In 1998 he graduated, with honors, from Clemson University with a degree in Biological Science. He graduated, with honors, from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. His professional interest includes dentistry, soft tissue surgery and internal medicine. He has over 22 years experience in the veterinary profession. Dr. Smith is married to Meagan Smith, DVM. They have two children, 4 dogs, 2 cats and a tropical fish aquarium. He enjoys Clemson Tigers football, cooking, fishing, playing video games and spending time with his family.
Dr. Jamie Parnell
Relief Veterinarian
Dr. Jamie Parnell was born and raised in South Carolina. In 2002 she graduated from Clemson University (Go Tigers!) with a Bachelor of Science pre-vet option. In 2008 she graduated from Tuskegee University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Her special interests are in pocket pets, reptiles and behavior training. She has been assisting at The Pet Doctor since 2015. She currently has 5 furbabies – 3 dogs and 2 cats. She loves running, dancing, the lake, karaoke and Clemson Football.

Chris T
Assistant Manager
Chris is originally from Myrtle Beach but has lived in several different states throughout the years. Chris began her veterinary technician career in 2007. She enjoys educating clients about new and improved ways to improve their pet’s health. She spends her spare time with her two children, who are growing up way too fast! Chris shares her home with 8 pets. She has 2 parrots, a cat Sable, a dog Windy, 2 sugar gliders and 2 box turtles. She is excited to be part of our team here at The Pet Doctor and looks forward to helping you care for your pet!
Assistant Manager
Jocelyn was born in Pennsylvania, but her family moved to the Myrtle Beach area when she was 6 years old, and she has been here ever since. She has been in the veterinary field since 2010. She is currently in school to get her Associates Degree in veterinary technology. She takes pride in fostering dogs and cats from animal shelters in the area. She and her husband, Thomas, have 6 dogs (Mileigh, Tilly, Ammo, Pistol, Buddy and Sniper) and 4 cats (Oliver, Baby Kitty, Dudley and Tucker).
Office Administrator
Brenda moved to the Myrtle Beach area in 2012 from Pennsylvania. She has spent her career working in the Human Resource field, both as a professional and as a teacher. She began transitioning her career by consulting with The Pet Doctor on human resource issues. She is now excited to be working part time in an administrative capacity with The Pet Doctor. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her two rescues, Bayleigh and Darbeigh.
Office Administrator
Lorraine grew up in the Bronx, then moved to California where she began working with animals. After 23 years she returned to New York, but missed the California heat and ended up in Myrtle Beach. Now she works in administration, but enjoys visiting the dogs and cats in our waiting room! She lives with 3 dogs, 6 cats and 1 African Grey parrot who happily tells the dogs to “be quiet”.
Veterinary Technician
Lisa has been a resident of Myrtle Beach for four years. A New Jersey native who worked in a physical therapy office for nine years before relocating to South Carolina. Her passion for animals was what brought her to the decision to leave the human medical field and pursue a career as a veterinary assistant. Lisa spent four years with another area clinic before we were so blessed to add her to our team. Lisa enjoys spending time with her daughter and their three Staffordshire Bull Terriers Aiden, Ready and Bubba. Her dogs lead an active lifestyle by participating in a variety of dog sports from lure coursing to weight pulling. An advocate for responsible dog ownership and training, Lisa’s pets boast a number of titles from AKC Canine Good Citizen, obedience, Rally-O, Lure Coursing, Therapy dog, temperament Test and Weight pull. As you can see Lisa spends a lot of time with her pets and is very proud of their accomplishments.
Christina M
Veterinary Technician
Christina was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and recently relocated to Myrtle Beach in 2014. She has been working in the veterinary field for the past 20 years due to her love for animals. Christina has 3 cats that she loves dearly; Jinx, Harvey and Emma. Christina enjoys spending time at the beach in her spare time, and loves swimming in the ocean. She also loves to visit the otters at Brookgreen Gardens.
Veterinary Technician
LeTavious R. Hemingway was Born and raised in Conway, South Carolina. He joined The Pet Doctor team in 2012 after getting a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Morris College. With amazing on he job training he became a veterinary technician who loves the job with every fiber of his being. When he isn’t drawing blood, placing catheters, and helping treat pets he’s an avid writer. He’s started his own blog, which can be found on www.poeticice.com, and published two novels. Also, he is the writer of the Official Per Doctor Blog. He moved in 2015 to Augusta, Georgia with his beautiful wife Devin, his tabby cat Kahn, and two rescue pit bulls Bruce, and Wayne.
Veterinary Technician/Boarding Consultant
Jelisa was born in Queens, NY and moved to Conway when she was 15. She always had a love for animals and had many pets growing up. She went to school to study veterinary technology to fulfill her dream of working alongside the doctors to help every pet be healthy and happy, and to have every pet owner know that we care about their pet as much as they do. She currently has 4 dogs and a Bearded Dragon.
Veterinary Assistant
Nick was born in California and moved to South Carolina when he was 5 years old. He graduated from Socastee High School in 2015. Nick has a dog, Oreo, who he enjoys spending time with. Nick also loves sports! You can find Nick watching sporting events during his free time, especially hockey. Go Rangers!

Daycare & Boarding Facility Staff

Beth was born and raised in the Myrtle Beach area. After working in motorsports for 10 years, she transitioned into the animal care field. Her animal family consists of Sampson the Great Dane, Bella the Boxer, a rabbit and a large aquarium. She states that she is “beyond excited to be part of the Pet Doctor family”.
Assistant Manager
Dereck, originally from Baltimore Maryland, has been in the Horry County area for more than 20 years. He is a student at CCU working towards a Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Accounting and Marketing. He has always had a love for animals and has been in this field since 2009. He has 3 rescue dogs of his own; Nibbler, Branna and Rishie.
Boarding Consultant/Veterinary Technician
Beckie was born and raised in Conway, SC. She began working as a Veterinary Technician in 2003. A few years later, she took some time off to be a stay at home mom. As much as she loves being a mom, she does enjoy work and now looks forward to coming to work every day. She loves animals and wants to do all she can to help them live fantastic lives. She has a 9 year old daughter, who is her best friend. They love doing arts and crafts together as well as spending time outdoors. She, also, has a 2 year old Chihuahua named Maggie who is the true boss of the house and loves their outdoor adventures.
Boarding Consultant/Veterinary Technician
Amanda was born and raised in upstate New York but recently relocate to Myrtle Beach with her family. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University at Albany, she decided to follow her passion for animals and pursue a career in the field. She is currently studying animal obedience through the Animal Behavior College. Amanda loves working with and being around animals. She has one dog named Sophie and a kitten named Archie but would have many more if she could! Amanda is very excited to be a part of the Pet Doctor family and can’t wait to meet your pets!
Boarding Consultant
Tanisha Woodberry is from a small town named Hemingway, SC. She currently lives in the Carolina Forest area. She graduated in May of 2017 with bachelors in science, major biology. She plans to further her education by getting a veterinarian tech certification starting in January 2018. In her spare time she likes to volunteer in the community with her sorority Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. She also likes to play with animals and care for them. She does not have any animals with her at the moment, but back in her home town she has a bird name Phoenix and a dog name Spot.

Dalton is a student at Carolina Forest High School. He is planning on attending the University Of South Carolina. On his free time he likes to play basketball and hang-out with his dogs. He has 2 dogs, Mia and Tink.

Izzy, originally from Amherst Ohio, has lived in Conway about 4 years. When he is not working at the kennel, he is working in Surfside at the Nostalgia Museum. He has five dogs of his own: Roxas-a miniature Dachshund, Hades-a miniature Doberman/Chihuahua mix, Molly-a miniature Greyhound/Chihuahua mix, & two of the pups from Molly and Hades first litter named Peanut ‘Butta’ & Jelly. On his days off, Izzy likes to hang out at the local dog parks or be home playing video games cuddled up with his fur babies watching movies.

Tyler is originally from Connecticut. He loves being around animals and has always wanted to work with them. His favorite things to do when he is not working are watch pro wrestling, go bowling, and listen to music. He also enjoys playing video games and sparing with friends. Tyler has two cats, a black and white one named Zoe and an all white cat named Sam bucca.

I was born and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I currently attend Socastee High School as junior. I will graduate in 2019. I look forward to attending Charleston Southern University to continue my education in hopes to be very successful in the Veterinary medicine field. I do love spending time with my animals. I have 5 dogs and a Rabbit. I also enjoy spending time with all the dogs that I get to love on while at work.
Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, raised in New England.. In 1996 after getting my certification in dog grooming and kennel management, I bought a local business.. After 21 years of being self-employed, my 2 kids and I sold everything and started new in Myrtle Beach. We currently have 4 Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and a Shih-tuz.. Today, I am proud to be a part of the Pet Doctor family..
Former Boarding Consultant/Veterinary Technician
Micheala was born and raised in Mid Missouri and relocated to the Myrtle Beach area to attend Coastal Carolina University in 2011. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science in December 2014. She is currently studying Veterinary Medicine at Ross University in St. Kitts, and hopes to one day open her own practice. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, surfing, scuba diving, hiking and traveling. We know she misses us and we miss her too!!!
